CASI has an independent general laboratory (#409) and a PI laboratory (#514), equipped with ultra-pure water machine, fume hood, freeze dryer, sample grinder, vacuum glove box, high temperature tubular furnace, vacuum suction filtration system, etc. to meet the needs of various experiments and sample processing; equipped with various instruments for the analysis of mercury (Lumex 915M for solid, liquid, and gas samples, Lumex 915F for complex solid matrix, Tekran 2600 for trace liquid mercury) to measure mercury concentrations of geological and environmental samples. In addition, Tekran 2700 will be purchased soon for measuring the highly toxic methylmercury.
In terms of the equipment for field observation, CASI has purchased 1) extralab system for long-term in-situ monitoring of basic water quality parameters and element content on watershed scale; 2) the atmospheric mercury speciation system (Tekran 2537/1130/1135) for long-term on-line monitoring of the content of gaseous elemental mercury, gaseous bivalent mercury and particulate mercury. These field monitoring instruments will be deployed to coastal field monitoring stations in conjunction with complementary instruments of other centers for multi-parameter joint observation.
