The Experimental and Practical Teaching Center (EPTC) in the School of Earth System Science (SESS), Tianjin University, has been established with the purpose of training students to seek truth from facts via well-designed scientific experimental and practical teaching activities. The EPTC aims to improve undergraduate teaching quality and enhance students’ ability to practice and innovate. To this end, the EPTC is featured by developing interdisciplinary experimental and practical courses, sharing premium-quality teaching resources, taking a full advantage of experimental and practical platforms in the SESS. As a geography-centered comprehensive teaching center, the EPTC gives priority to teaching partially along with research via laboratory experiments and field practices.
The EPTC provides experimental and practical services in the following aspects:
(1) Planning the development of students’ practice bases;
(2) Designing and constructing experimental and practical curricula;
(3) Coordinating experimental resources and devices;
(4) Establishing enterprise-based practice training programs.
