Prof. Albert Galy from CRPG-CNRS Visited SESS

2023-11-02

On the afternoon of October 31st, Prof. Albert Galy from CRPG-CNRS visited the School of Earth System Science (SESS) and gave an academic presentation titled "Neodymium mass dependent isotope variations " in which he explored the fractions related to surface processes with the faculty and students of SESS.

The presentation focused on the question of Nd isotope geochemistry and systematically explained the indicative role of radioactivity and stable Nd isotopes in the process of mantle metasomatism. Prof. Galy discussed some mass dependent isotopic variations and anthropogenic signature of Nd to provide theoretical support for the application of Nd isotopes in deep and surface processes.

Albert Galy is a full professor at the Centre de Recherches Pétrographiques et Géochimiques (CRPG) of the French National Centre for Scientific Research(CNRS). His primary areas of investigation include Fractionation, Geochemistry, Carbonate, Isotopes of magnesium and Hydrology. His study explores the link between Fractionation and topics such as Dolomite that cross with problems in Seawater and Source rock. Albert Galy has researched Geochemistry in several fields, including Isotopes of carbon, Drainage basin, Alluvium, Sediment and Monsoon.
