SESS's Geography program is very field-oriented. The Geography Year 3 Undergraduate students went on their field trip to the Liujiang Basin in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province on August 14-31. The trip was led by A/Prof. ZHU Xiangyu, A/Prof. ZHANG Yonggen, Dr. XU Zhanjie and Dr. YAO Wenqian.
Exploring the geology of the Liujiang Basin, the trip included several stops where attendees saw the geological relics that evidenced the major geologic events during the four ocean-continent transitions aging through the Archean, Proterozoic, Paleozoic, Mesozoic to the Cenozoic era over the past 2.5 billion years.
