The Tianjin Key Laboratory of Earth Critical Zone Science and Sustainable Development in Bohai Rim holds the 2020 Academic Committee meeting

On September 23,  Tianjin Key Laboratory of Earth Critical Zone Science and Sustainable Development in Bohai Rim held the 2020 Academic Committee Meeting online. An anual report on the lab's research progress, platform development, academic exchanges and future plan was given, followed by discussions and comments among the committee members. It is agreed  that the lab is on the right direction and shall make more efforts on ecological environmental protection and restoration of the Bohai Sea Rim.

The Tianjin Key Laboratory of Earth Critical Zone Science and Sustainable Development in Bohai Rim was established on April 25, 2019. In response to the urgent need for ecological and environmental research in the social and economic development of the Bohai-Rim region in northern China, the key laboratory focuses on the Bohai Sea-Land Interlock Zone Area, and aim at the key belts of coastal areas and the international frontiers and hotspots of sustainable development research. Based on the research concepts of surface earth system science, through multidisciplinary cross-penetration and comprehensive integration, the key laboratory develops and enriches the theory of ecological environment evolution and the technical method of protection in the sea-land ecotone in Bohai-Rim area, which can effectively screen the impact of human activities, climate change and environmental changes on the ecological environment, and closely integrate with the needs of social and economic development. Serving the practice activities of ecological environmental protection and restoration of the Bohai Sea Rim, the key laboratory provides services for ecological environmental protection and function improvement, resource development, major project construction and sustainable social and economic development in the coastal areas of northern China.
