On 17 August, a delegation of Department of Earth System Science of Tsinghua University, headed by Prof. GONG Peng, visited SESS for academic exchange and cooperation. The delegation also includes Prof. YU Chaoqing, A/Prof. BAI Yuqi and A/Prof. YU Le.
Prof. GONG gave a report on the development of Earth System Science at Tsinghua University. He reviewed Tsinghua’s strong Earth science discipline in history and the efforts to re-establish the earth science program in 2009. He then introduced the department’s vision and goals, research focus and directions, degree programs and talent training, team and culture building, etc.. After the report, the delegation exchanged views with SESS faculty and students on the frontier of earth system science and possible cooperation between the two organizations sharing the same name of “Earth System Science” in China.
During the visit, the delegation also visited the labs at SESS.
