From 8 to 15 July, 2019, two ISESS students attended a 1-week aid-education event at Zhuyuan Village, Tanchang County, Gansu Province in western China, for the purpose of satisfying their desire for knowledge and lighting their dreams for a better future.
After a long train journey through mountains, the aid-education team managed to reach the only school at the Zhuyuan area, the Zhuyuan 9-year Compulsory Education School. Despite of being half-starved and exhausted, the team members delivered high quality presentations introducing science, technology and culture for the students in the village. Extracurricular activities were also held for more communication with the local students, inspiring them to embrace a better future through study.
The ISESS will send more staff and students for such volunteering events to support the education in poverty-stricken areas in China.
