In August 2019, ISESS welcomed 60 newcomers, including 39 master students and 21 doctoral students.
Followed by welcoming ceremony, a range of orientation activities such as visiting Tianjin University’s history museum and the labs of ISESS have been rolled out. Prof. LIU Congqiang, Dean of ISESS, Academician of CAS, gavethe "First lecture" to the new students, encouraging them to be committed to scientific research and personal growth.
Ice-breaking activities and class meetings were also organizedfor new students to get familiar with each other.
In the following weeks, some more orientation programs will be offered including fire safety education, literature reading, information on international academic exchanges, aiming to help them better prepare for future study and research.
