On the afternoon of 13 May during the International Workshop on Surface-Earth System Science, Prof. LIU Congqiang and Prof. Harry Vereecken signed the Agreement for Cooperation on behalf the Institute of Surface-Earth System Science (Tianjin University) and the Agrosphere Institute (IBG-3) of Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH.
The two institutes are going to develop substantial cooperation in terms of faculty/student exchange, joint research (publications, grant applications, project implementation), access to Critical Zone observatories etc., with a purpose of advancing the surface-earth system science.
Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, is one of the largest interdisciplinary research centers in Europe and a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. The Agrosphere Institute (IBG-3) aims at improving our understanding of hydrological and biogeochemical processes in terrestrial systems with a specific focus on agricultural and soil-groundwater systems. Its Director, Prof. Harry Vereecken was awarded Honorary Professorship of Tianjin University in 2018.
