Associate Professor Dr. Ruoyu SUN Gave a talk in 13th ICMGP

2017-08-03

The 13th International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant (ICMGP) was hold in Providence, Rhode Island, USA from 16th to 21st July, 2017. This year’s meeting is particularly timely given that the <Minamata Convention> will come into force this summer. 13th ICMGP is focused on four thematic questions: 1) How is global mercury cycling changing in response to perturbations (e.g., climate change, emissions control); 2) How is mercury cycling (and bioaccumulation) changing in specific places in response to perturbations (e.g., climate change, remediation, nutrient control, urbanization); 3)What is the relative risk of mercury exposure to human health and wildlife in the context of other risks/stressors; 4) How can scientific knowledge contribute to the implementation and effectiveness evaluation of the Minamata Convention.

Dr. Ruoyu SUN, Associate Professor at ISESS, gave an invited talk ‘A fully-coupled global Hg isotope box model’ under the session of ‘Stable isotope studies of global mercury cycling and bioaccumulaton’. The research area of Dr. Ruoyu SUN is environmental geochemistry of mercury based on stable isotopes.
