Tianjin University Press had three works selected for the 2026 National Quality Science Popularization Works Collection. Among them, The Earth's Colorful Coat, edited by Professor Xu Sheng of SESS, was included as part of the book series Little Essays by Big Professors: Written for Future Scientists.
The Earth's Colorful Coat uses Earth system science as its framework, explaining the interactions among the lithosphere, hydrosphere, pedosphere, biosphere, and atmosphere, and illustrating human impacts on the Earth's environment through typical cases from Tianjin University's School of Earth System Science. With vivid language, Q&A, and hand-drawn illustrations, it helps young readers understand Earth science and embrace sustainable development.
Prof. Xu Sheng is a Chair Professor at Tianjin University and a recipient of the National High‑Level Overseas Talent Program, long engaged in isotope geochemistry and geochronology research.
