From October 17 to 18, Professor Budiman Minasny, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, internationally renowned soil scientist from the University of Sydney, and Director of the Soil-Carbon-Water Research Centre at the Sydney Institute of Agriculture, visited the School of Earth System Science at Tianjin University upon invitation.
Prof. Minasny was welcomed by Prof. Liu Congqiang, Academician and Dean of SESS, and Prof. Chen Jiubin, Associate Dean of SESS. During the meeting, both sides expressed positive expectations for future collaboration in earth science, particularly in the interdisciplinary field combining soil science and artificial intelligence.
On October 18, Prof. Minasny delivered a lecture titled "AI Redrawing the Future of Soil Science" in the "Peiyang Lecture Series."
