From June 30 to July 7, SESS conducted the China Exchange Program (CEP) under the theme "Dialogue for the Earth's Future", hosting 15 students and faculty members from the University of Malaya.
The 1-week program featured a diverse range of activities, including academic lectures on geoscience and sustainability, geological field survey in Jizhou County, and visits to Bohai National CZO, TJU new campus and Tianjin's cultural landmarks.
Program Highlights
Academic Lectures: Scholars from both institutions delivered insightful presentations on cutting-edge research in geosciences and sustainability, facilitating knowledge exchange and collaborative opportunities.
Field Survey: Participants conducted a geological field survey in Jizhou County, analyzing regional geological formations and ecological conditions to support future research initiatives.
Institutional Visits: The delegation toured key facilities, including the Bohai National Critical Zone Observatory (CZO), TJU’s new campus, and cultural landmarks in Tianjin, enhancing mutual understanding of research capabilities and heritage.
Cultural Engagement: The program concluded with a lakeside farewell concert, strengthening interpersonal bonds and laying the groundwork for long-term academic partnerships.
This exchange program not only advanced scientific collaboration but also reinforced the institutional relationship between TJU and UM. Moving forward, both parties are committed to exploring joint research projects and student exchange programs in geoscience and sustainability.
