In May 2024, School of Earth System Science (SESS), Tianjin University and the Agrosphere Institute (IBG-3) of Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH renew the Memorandum of Understanding to further collaborations of joint benefits. Academician Congqiang Liu, Dean of the SESS and Professor Harry Vereecken, Director of the Agrosphere Institute (IBG-3) signed the agreement.
The new MOU intends to intensify the faculty exchange, make more efforts in joint research and developing the Critical Zone Observatories, and co-supervise young researchers. It is believed that the newly signed agreement builds momentum and an opportunity for the two parties to serve the strategic partnership through more academic exchange and cooperation.
SESS and Juelich (IBG-3) first signed an MOU in 2019. Since then, the two parties have worked closely together to advance Earth System Science and train high-quality graduate students and young researchers. They also co-host the 4th International Conference on Soil Modeling in Tianjin.
