Abstract:

Since when the Negev is a desert? Characteristics and development over time of hyperarid soils in the Negev. What do salic-gypsic soil horizons tell us? Why are calcic soil horizons missing? Why are calcic soils more common in drier Namib environments? What is observed in the most arid areas of the SW US? The bound on climate these soils provide us; i.e, what is the scale of changing precipitation?
