Topic: Al(III)-binding properties of soil DOM at molecular level under long-term fertilizations
Abstract: An important aspect of the toxicity, mobilization and fate of Aluminum (Al) in acid soils is interaction with dissolved organic matter (DOM). The binding characteristics of organic ligands with Al(III) are essential to understand the alleviation of Al toxicity and the mobilization of soil Al. knowledge regarding the effect of long-term fertilization on Al mobilization and Al(III) binding properties of DOM is limited, although organic fertilization has been shown to increase soil organic carbon and alleviate soil acidification. In this study, Al(III) binding properties under different fertilizations were measured by Al(III) titrations experiment coupled with fluorescence excitation-emission matrix (EEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.
