Abstract: Aminosugars are an important class of biological indicators,Mainly derived from lower organisms such as microorganisms. Four most common amino sugars in soil and environment have been quantified, including Glucosamine (GlcN), amino galactose (GalN), amino mannose (ManN) and muric acid (MurA). These amino sugars can indicate the different biological sources of soil nitrogen and have important implications. To date, various methods have been developed for the determination of amino sugars, such as paper chromatography, amino acid analyzer, high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GCMS). In this presentation, we will mainly share methods for quantitative analysis of four amino sugars using GCMS, including pre-treatment method flow and precautions, optimization and evaluation of instrument testing methods, etc.
