2026-03-27

On March 24, a 6-member delegation led by Dr. Zhang Zhijun, Director of Tianjin Forestry Affairs Center under Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources, visited the School of Earth System Science in Tianjin University for exchanges.

Li Siliang, the Executive Associate Dean of SESS, outlined the school’s development, discipline building, talent cultivation, and research achievements. Wang Tiejun, Deputy Director of the National Field Station for the Bohai Rim Coastal Earth Critical Zone, highlighted the station’s integrated space-air-ground monitoring system and core research areas.

Zhang Zhijun presented the center’s development and core functions, which cover forest/grassland/wetland survey, forestry standardization, pest control, afforestation planning and ecological value assessment. He called for deeper collaboration and invited our students to join Tianjin’s forestry sector.

Both sides agreed on high compatibility in forestry ecological monitoring, carbon sink assessment, urban ecological restoration and resource planning. They pledged to align with the national 15th Five-Year Plan, jointly apply for major research projects, promote commercialization of research outcomes, and build a talent cultivation platform to boost high-quality development of regional forestry ecology.

The Forestry Affairs Center of Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources (also known as the Tianjin Forestry Survey and Design Institute) is affiliated with the bureau. Its core functions include forest, grassland, and wetland resource survey and monitoring, forestry standardization research, pest control, plant quarantine, afforestation planning and design, ecological value assessment, and climate change data support.
