Research Area

We are interested in exploring formation, evolution, and dynamics of the Surface-Earth system pertinent to life support as well as changes in the functioning of ecological service. We employ both field observations and modeling tools to predict the evolution of the Surface-Earth system under naturally driven and human perturbationson the scales from tens to hundreds of years. We devote to providing the understanding of feedback mechanisms within the Surface-Earth system from a multi-disciplinary perspective, for better management of natural resources and for optimizing ecosystem service.

Current research includes:

  • To explore structure, formation, and dynamics of Surface-Earth system;

  • To understand regional and global biogeochemical cycling related to climate/environmental changes;

  • To investigate the impacts of natural and anthropogenic processes on the evolution of the ecosystem service of the Surface-Earth system.
